A Sunderland mom wants to honor her son, Lyndon, who had severe health issues, with a special $4,400 headstone.
Kay Fisher, age 38, cared for her son Lyndon. Lyndon was born in December 2022. He had severe hydrocephalus and other issues. He was blind and had epilepsy too. Doctors saw fluid on Lyndon’s brain before he was born. This meant it hadn’t fully developed. He had brain surgery to help the fluid.
His parents say he was a happy boy. They tried to give him a good life. Kay said Lyndon was her whole world. He made up her daily routine. She never left his side.
She shared that he had a wonderful smile. His blonde hair was soft and pretty. Ryan said that Lyndon was happy despite his problems. Doctors thought Lyndon might need a wheelchair. They also thought he might not talk.
They didn’t think he would smile or laugh. But he did. Lyndon smiled when his brother, Leo, tickled him. Kay said his smiles were amazing. She managed to make him laugh once. It was the best feeling ever. Leo was a great and helpful big brother.
Lyndon had more brain surgery in March 2024. He got pneumonia afterward and sadly passed away. He died on June 12, 2024. Kay and Ryan held his hands as he died. Kay knew he would not live long. She thought he’d still have more time.
Now, Kay and Ryan want to raise money. They need about $4,400 for a special headstone. It will go at his grave. He’ll be next to his Grandpa Brian. They have raised about $1,650 so far. The headstone may cost closer to $10,000. Kay says losing Lyndon hurts all the time. They will honor him as he deserves, though. The couple appreciates any help. They want a resting place for Lyndon. It should show the love he brought.
