A multi million regeneration scheme has transformed Midsomer Norton town center, creating improved public spaces.

The council improved The Island over ten months. They made it better for events and markets. The first event was the Wassail on February 1. More events are planned for the next year and a half.
Bus stops have been improved on High Street. They can now handle more bus routes. There are wider sidewalks and more shelters now. Real-time bus info is also now available.
A special curved bench is still coming this spring. They will place it on the white lias wall, completing the whole project.
The council says the Market Square looks great. It’s now a useful community space, and the new bus area should help the town center. They hope more people will visit.
The Market Square project cost £2.39 million. It’s part of a bigger scheme and follows a grant for High Street improvements. Other groups also helped fund it.
The town mayor says this is a big moment. They fixed an old underground channel, which was built in Victorian times for cattle markets. Now, the square can return to its best.
