The North East Lincolnshire Mayor will pick up litter. He wants to improve his borough by doing so.

Councillor Steve Beasant starts April 1 in Immingham. He plans to pick up litter around the area. Steve will raise money for good causes in his last months.

Steve wants to support four charities. These are Nurtrio, Friendship at Home, YMCA, and Jax’s Stoma Appeal. He is nearing the end of his term as mayor. Steve mentioned his final countdown as mayor.

He wants to help his chosen charities a lot. These groups all mean a great deal to him. So, he decided on a 24-hour litter pick. It will happen across the wards in the area.

Steve will start in Immingham on April Fool’s Day. Then he will work through the borough picking up trash. Steve hopes to boost community spirit. He also wants to make the borough cleaner.

Steve wants North East Lincolnshire to be even better. He said this can happen through community events. The mayor isn’t worried about the job’s physical demands.

The Mayor is confident despite the task. He walks 20,000 steps daily. He has also done a 24-hour walk before. “I’m over 70,” Steve said. “But I stay active.” He doesn’t let age stop him.

Steve is proud of where he was born. He will do anything to help it. He doesn’t want to live anywhere else. He wants to help the charities. It is his goal before his time as mayor ends.
