Michelin listed 63 Degrees closed after 14 years. Health issues force family to shut popular Manchester spot.

Michelin also listed other favorite dining spots. These include Higher Ground, Maya, Erst, and Adam Reid at The French. But, one restaurant on the list closed. 63 Degrees shut down after 14 years. It was in the Northern Quarter.
The French restaurant closed for Christmas. The sign said they would reopen January 11th. This changed to January 30th. They never reopened after that. Their last Instagram post was in August 2024. The booking page shows them “temporarily offline.”
The founder told Manchester Confidential it closed. Alexandre Moreau said his parents went back to France. His parents are Head Chef Eric and his mother. They left due to health issues. The restaurant was Parisian-style.
The Moreau family wanted to share Paris in Manchester. They focused on fancy food. They made the Northern Quarter known for French meals. Michelin called it a “true neighborhood restaurant.”
The menu made diners feel they were in Paris. The menu had snails and crème brûlée. They used good techniques. They oddly served burgers, too. Lobster and pigeon were burger fillings. The son helped out. The place felt like a real part of the area.
Many places in Manchester closed lately. Almost Famous closed. It sold burgers. They had locations in other cities. Lazy Sundae, a dessert place, also closed. Hip Hop Chip Shop is closing soon. It served fish and chips for eleven years.
Over fifteen places closed this year. Restaurants face tough challenges. These include pandemic aftereffects and staff shortages. Rising energy bills cause trouble. Tax hikes also begin in April. The Manchester Evening News asked 63 Degrees for comment.
