Manchester celebrates a second Michelin star, solidifying its place as a top culinary destination!
Simon Martin, Mana’s chef, congratulated Tom at Skof. Simon hopes more top chefs open places in Manchester. He thinks Manchester is the most exciting city now. He is very happy about the new star.
Many top UK chefs congratulated Tom. TV star James Martin and others sent their best. Tom’s old boss, Simon Rogan, also celebrated Tom’s success. Rogan kept his own Michelin stars at his restaurant. Tom used to work there.
Rogan said he was proud of Tom and his team. They used to work for him in Cartmel. He thinks encouragement helps dreams come true. This still happens for him too, after many years.
Tom did something Simon Rogan couldn’t do. He won a Michelin star in Manchester. Rogan tried to win one at The French in 2013. He left after three years without getting one.
Tom shared his joy about getting the award. He opened Skof to share his food. Being recognized by Michelin means everything to him.
Skof opened in May 2024 and became famous quickly. Michelin called it “one to watch.” It won “Best New Restaurant” at the Good Food Guide awards. Skof also earned a spot in SquareMeal’s T100. It won two awards at the Manchester Food and Drink Awards too.
Tom wanted to build something people would love. He changed dishes until they were perfect. His team shares his determination and hard work.
