A driver was arrested after a car crash disrupted train services in Manchester. He is hospitalized with serious injuries.

A car crash caused train delays in Manchester. It happened early Friday on Regent Road, affecting a major route through Salford. Trains from Northern and others got canceled.
A black BMW crashed at 2 AM. It smashed through a barrier on a walkway and landed upside down on the train tracks at the Regent Road roundabout. The car looked totally wrecked.
Amazingly, the driver is still alive. Police arrested him at the scene and suspect he was driving drunk. He’s a man in his thirties. Police gave an update this morning.
The driver is still in the hospital, and they say his injuries are serious now, but they shouldn’t be life-threatening. He probably won’t get charged while in the hospital.
Police are still checking out the crash and gathering evidence right now. GMP leads the investigation. The crash stopped trains from running, delaying trains to and from Manchester and affecting trains via Eccles.
Trains started running again Friday night because they fixed the overhead cables quickly.
