A man digging in Peterborough got jail time after police found a knife and cocaine in his bag during a search.

A man ended up in jail. He was digging. Police searched his backpack.

Vaidas Vasiliauskas, age 42, was digging in Peterborough. This happened around 3 PM on February 15, 2025. Police noticed him near bushes.

Officers searched Vasiliauskas and discovered a kitchen knife inside his rucksack. Police also found a small bag of cocaine in his pocket.

Vasiliauskas, who lived on Beckets Close in New England, got six months in prison. He admitted to three things in court.

He admitted to the offenses that happened Monday, February 17. He possessed an offensive weapon, a knife, and also possessed cocaine.

PC Kristian Bennett investigated the case. He said carrying a weapon is unacceptable. Bennett was happy they seized the items and wanted to stop potential crime.

Bennett wants people to report weapons if they are concerned someone might have one. Tell the police about it.
