Geovanni Otero, wanted for Melody Rivera’s murder, caught after a car chase. Tattoos reading “Melody” found.

Otero, age 29, sped away from the troopers. The ensuing chase went on for a mile before he crashed the car and then tried running away on foot.
Turns out, police were already looking for Otero in connection with the murder of Melody Rivera. Rivera, also 29, died on November 8 after she was beaten and buried in a shallow grave near a park in Philadelphia’s Fox Chase area.
When police caught Otero, they found tattoos on him; a dagger behind one ear and “Melody” behind the other. He initially gave police a fake name.
However, fingerprint analysis linked him to Rivera’s murder. The police say Otero is wanted for homicide, and the US Marshals Service also wants him. Rivera’s body was found on November 8, 2024. They were last seen together on October 31 on the 900 block of Sanger Street.
Otero has a criminal record dating back to when he was 12 and was recently released on a gun charge. Rivera’s family searched for her for six days before she was found.
Her sister, Martha Lee Fred, remembers her fondly, saying Rivera was loving, kind, and funny and that she didn’t deserve what happened. Police believe an argument led to the murder, but the motive is still unknown.
