A man was arrested at Hull Royal Infirmary for aggressive behavior while carrying an axe and a knife.

Proctor, 44, admitted possessing the weapons in public on January 8. A hospital worker saw Proctor shouting outside and yelling about kicking someone’s head in. She alerted police officers who were arriving.
Officers asked Proctor to step outside right away. He had hidden a large metal object and then removed it from his jacket. It was a large wood splitter, like an axe.
Police arrested him at that point as he had the axe and knife while making threats. The person who complained saw him throw the knife, which landed behind a bin near the hospital.
The axe measured about 20cm in length and width, was heavy, rusty, and weighed up to 7kg. The knife had a four-inch black blade.
Proctor told police it was for chopping wood and claimed he lived in a tent. He said he was at the hospital for a check-up and stated he was assaulted days earlier, adding that he had 20 prior offenses.
His lawyer said Proctor pleaded guilty quickly. He hadn’t been in custody for three years. Before this, someone burned down his tent, and he suffered burns inside.
Males assaulted him later, creating fear. Proctor carried weapons for protection because he lacked logical thinking, his lawyer stated. He had been homeless since 2022 and struggled.
The judge said police found the axe in his jacket and a homemade knife sheath. He hid the knife behind a bin there, and the judge stated that he was behaving aggressively.
Proctor went inside the hospital with the axe. The judge described it as “highly dangerous” and added it could split someone’s head open. The court jailed Proctor for 14 months.
