Scott Brooks jailed after hurling brick at police officer during a Southport riot involving 1,000 people.

Around 1,000 people caused trouble in the town then and Brooks was right in the middle of it all. CCTV cameras caught him throwing things and even hitting a police officer.
Brooks threw a brick at her head, causing her to fall to the ground after it hit her helmet. Her leg was also hurt during this incident on Sussex Road as Brooks encouraged others to join the riot.
He admitted to violent disorder earlier and on February 21, the court sentenced him. Brooks, from Francis Street in Wigan, will spend two years and eight months in jail.
Police arrested others linked to the chaos, which saw violence occur in both Southport and Liverpool. In relation to the Liverpool disorder, a 12-year-old boy was arrested and released.
Additionally, a 30-year-old man from Manchester suspected of Southport disorder was arrested and then bailed. The police are still investigating these cases.
Merseyside disorder arrests total 176 now with 135 people charged. Sentences given total 216 years and eight months, and police want to find everyone involved still.
Police urge remaining rioters to turn themselves in. People can share information by calling 101, or alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
