A doorbell camera caught a man near a house. The court heard about the incident. A young mom saw a shadow inside her place and witnessed the burglar running with her purse.

Anthony Burns, age 40, admitted to two burglaries at Eleanor Street and Boulevard Avenue. He also admitted to theft and public disorder.

Burns had many prior convictions. A judge called it a drug-fueled crime spree. Burns was on license during these crimes, having been jailed in 2022 for burglary.

Burns stole coffee and demanded vodka, stating he wouldn’t pay before running. Simultaneously, a couple sleeping with an open window for their cats noticed their back door was open. Someone had searched their cupboards and the man’s cards and license were gone.

Someone used his card at a gas station and Burns was identified from CCTV footage. Similarly, someone used the cards for small transactions after the woman’s card and cash were stolen. The bank stopped her card after she called them, and a karaoke machine also disappeared.

The couple expressed feeling upset someone entered their home. Meanwhile, the mom saw a shadow in her hall before she saw Burns take her purse, which was on her child’s stroller.

The doorbell camera showed Burns lurking nearby, and then running away. Following this, the mom felt unsafe in her home and scared for her child.

A police officer spotted Burns later and he ran toward shops. Burns yelled about a knife, but when police caught him, there was no knife.

Burns was using drugs at that time. His lawyer said it was heartbreaking and wants Burns to recover. The judge jailed Burns for four years.
