A guy was charged with attempted murder. Last year a teen was attacked. Police responded to Pennine Drive in St. Helens. They got called around 10:15 p.m. on September 2nd.

Reports stated two men stabbed a 14-year-old. The men then fled into Gaskell Park. Police first arrested a 20-year-old. This man was from Newton-le-Willows area. They released him later on bail.

Declan Pendlebury, age 20, was rearrested. He lives on Warwick Avenue in Newton-le-Willows. He now faces the attempted murder charge. He’ll stay in custody until court.

Pendlebury appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court March 7. An 18-year-old is still on bail. He is from Warrington. He was arrested for wounding with intent.

Police said the teen suffered life-altering injuries. They added that people were shocked by how he was targeted. Police work to prevent knife crime, focusing where it is needed.
