Edward Blackmore defrauded his family and a lender using a fake PSG deal. He’s sentenced to over six years.

Blackmore lied about a deal, claiming his firm had a contract with Paris Saint-Germain. The football club seemed to be involved, and he used this fake deal to get money. Blackmore even faked a lawyer’s signature to make his story seem real.
With this fake contract, he took a loan. His in-laws gave him £1.8 million, interest-free, supposedly to buy a house in Widcombe, Bath—a special building. He promised to pay them back quickly.
Around the same time, he got another loan: a short-term loan of £1.68 million from a finance company. He used the fake contract as proof again and forged his wife’s signature on a rental agreement to buy this house.
For a year and a half, he kept delaying, claiming PSG paid the wrong account or the bank froze the payment. These were all lies to avoid paying back. He barely paid back the finance company—only £76,000 over three months. The company took the house. Blackmore, his wife, and children were evicted.
The house was sold to repay the loan. His in-laws never saw their money again. His in-laws reported him for his actions.
The police investigated the fraud, and Blackmore was charged. He admitted to lying to his in-laws twice and to the finance company. He was sentenced in court at Swindon Crown Court to six years and eight months in jail.
His mother-in-law shared her pain about the betrayal, stating the deception impacted their family deeply. They trusted Blackmore, but he broke that trust. She said her husband planned a nice retirement, wanting to travel and help their family, but Blackmore stole those dreams. His lack of remorse is unacceptable, leaving them with a big mess to sort through.
His wife filed for divorce because of his actions. She thought their marriage would be built on trust, but he betrayed her with his lies. She now has financial struggles thanks to the fraud. Once she had her own properties and savings, and now she is a single mother and rents, working full-time to make ends meet. Her parents’ retirement was stolen from them.
The children also suffered. Their home was taken away, and the future she wanted for them vanished. She will work hard to rebuild what he destroyed.
A detective said Blackmore betrayed everyone, with lies that seemed endless to get loans. His actions hurt the entire family. The detective hopes the sentence brings them closure and that they can rebuild their lives. The court will try to get back some money, using the law to try and compensate the victims.
