Zach Porter, 30, is jailed for over 15 years after robbing two stores in Atherton, including a violent attack.
Zach went into a store on Derby Street. He put chocolate bars into his pocket. Staff asked him to pay. Zach said he had nothing hidden. Next, he picked up a wine bottle.
He went to the counter’s side, near the exit. He tried to get behind it. Zach demanded the worker open the till. He hit the staff member’s head with the wine bottle. This stopped them from pressing the alarm.
Porter tried to grab cigarettes. After that, he ran away. On that same day, he entered a wine shop.
He had a screwdriver, around five inches long. Porter held it to the worker’s ribs. He demanded the till be opened. The worker opened it.
Porter took cigarettes and cash. He stole between £215 and £225. Then, he quickly exited the shop. Police arrested Porter on January 4, 2024.
He was charged with robbery and theft. They also charged him with weapon possession. Porter lived on Devonshire Road, Atherton. The court found him guilty of these crimes. He received over fifteen years of prison, last Friday.
