A man is fighting for his life after a serious assault in Southend. Police have arrested a suspect and launched an investigation.

Police found the man was hurt at a house on Stadium Road. They located a woman there too. She was hurt, but not as badly and is getting medical care.
Police blocked off Stadium Road and Greyhound Way around midday on February 16th. Forensics were investigating at a house. Nobody could use Stadium Road because of the police tape. Greyhound Way was also closed in part near Matalan, taped off by the police.
A 21-year-old man from Southend got arrested for attempted murder and is in custody for questioning right now.
The Serious Crime Directorate is handling things. A detective named Terry Balding wants people to help by sharing anything they know. Balding said they are figuring out what happened first. He said cops are around asking questions and are keeping the cordons in place.
He asks that anyone with concerns talks to officers and to contact them if you may know something. The injured people knew each other. They believe the incident was just at one address, so Balding says there is is no public danger at this time.
