A man died after a car crash on the M62. The accident happened on Sunday night around 11:30 PM. It occurred on the westbound side. Police, paramedics, and firefighters went to the scene.

A car, an Audi A5 S line, left the road near Heywood at junction 19. The car then crashed into a bridge. Officials believe no other vehicles were involved. Sadly, the 24-year-old driver died at the scene.

Police are asking for help with their investigation and want to hear from anyone who drove there last night. Even dashcam footage could provide valuable information to them.

Emergency services closed part of the M62, affecting junction 19 westbound. Crash investigations created this smaller closure. Drivers should expect delays of 10 miles in traffic.

The motorway section is closed as the police continue their investigation. They expect delays will continue today and ask drivers to seek other routes. Avoid the area if you can now.

The crash affected the eastbound M62, too, and some A-roads are busy as drivers avoid the M62. A vehicle caught fire during the serious crash. The North West Motorway Police are investigating now.

Authorities are assessing the road and bridge for damage to see if the collision affected them. Traffic is using the exit and entry slip roads. Expect 90-minute delays in your journey.
