A man died on the M4 after being arrested in a predator sting. Police say he fell, ruling out suspicion.

Police say the man, in his 40s, fell from a height. They told his family about what happened and are providing support. He was arrested but not charged following an online “predator sting.”
The man was arrested on Friday night, February 21st. An “online child protection team” streamed accusations about him on social media. He died just hours after the group accused him.
Police stated the man fell from a bridge between junctions 20 and 21 around 6:40 PM, after which cars struck him. The police do not think the death was suspicious and offered sympathy to his family.
Police asked folks not to guess what happened, requesting respect for the family’s privacy. They thanked people for their patience, acknowledging the impact of road closures on many drivers.
Police made a referral to the IOPC, mandatory when police have contact. The group that confronted him asked people to respect his family and let them grieve privately.
