A man, 27, died at Manchester Airport after swallowing cocaine hidden in his underwear to evade authorities.

The 27-year-old was stopped by Border Force officers in Terminal 2’s security area. Cocaine was found concealed in his underwear.
He was arrested following the discovery and taken to a holding area. While there, he became unwell, and officials suspect he swallowed the drugs.
Paramedics arrived promptly, but he died at 1:53 PM. The IOPC is investigating this death, focusing on the actions of the police.
The Home Office contacted the IOPC to report the initial incident. The man had displayed unusual behavior prior to his flight.
The IOPC declared an investigation at 4:29 PM on Wednesday. IOPC investigators attended the airport and began gathering evidence. Specialist officers are supporting his family, providing updates on the investigation, which is currently in its early stages.
