David Brown is charged with causing death by dangerous driving after James Atkinson, 83, was hit by a BMW.

James Atkinson was 83 years old when he was hit by a BMW 1 Series on Teehey Lane in Bebington, Wirral. Mr. Atkinson tragically died two days later as a result of his injuries.
David Brown, 24, from Tranmere, appeared in Liverpool Crown Court to face the charge of dangerous driving.
Brown, dressed in a suit and tie, confirmed his name and birth date. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Judge Simon Driver KC released Brown on unconditional bail until next year. The trial, expected to last four days, is scheduled to begin on February 2nd. Families from both sides were present at the hearing.
Police responded to an incident on Teehey Lane near Roland Avenue after 7:30 PM on March 4th of last year. They found a pedestrian with a serious head injury and transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
Unfortunately, he died on March 6, 2024. Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy expressed his condolences and assured the family of their continued support.
The car’s driver reportedly left the scene but returned shortly after. Police located the car on Sandymount Drive and believe it was involved in the incident.
