A man got arrested after a deadly crash in Blackpool. Police have released him; he faces no charges now.

The accident happened on Plymouth Road near Mowbray Drive. It was on a pedestrian crossing on Monday evening, February 10. A car hit a man in his 70s while he crossed.

He was from St Annes, police shared, and he had terrible injuries. They rushed him to Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Sadly, he died there after treatment.

Detectives are working to identify him. Finding his family is also a priority. Updates came out on February 13.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man, suspected of causing death by dangerous driving. After investigating, they let him go, and he will not face any further action.

DS Joseph Ghigi, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, spoke about the case. He stated that a man died, which is very sad. They want to find the car and driver involved.

He knows other drivers saw the man before or after the crash. The man was in his 70s and slim. He wore glasses, a red and black jacket, and blue pants.

Ghigi asked people to come forward. Did you witness the collision? Did you see the man beforehand? Do you have dashcam or CCTV footage? It should be from Plymouth Road’s Mowbray Drive area, focusing on the crossing between 7:45 pm and 8:05 pm on February 10.
