A man is charged with kidnap and assault after allegedly forcing a teenage girl into a house in Newton Aycliffe.

Police received a call reporting an assault on a teen around 10 pm on Thursday, February 27.
The girl was allegedly forced inside a property but later escaped. She ran for help nearby, alerting people at another house. Hindhaugh, age 22, was arrested that night.
He was taken into police custody and questioned about the event. He now faces several charges, including kidnap, assault, weapon possession, and non-fatal strangulation.
He was scheduled for a court hearing today at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Turner of Durham Constabulary stated the event was isolated but shocking for the girl and her family. Officers are supporting the victim, ensuring she gets needed help.
The inspector reassured the public that police are not seeking other suspects as someone has already been charged.
