A suspect was arrested after a dramatic car chase in Leigh involving a stolen vehicle and police helicopter.

Police officers chased the stolen car. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) called for air support, and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) assisted quickly. The vehicle had earlier been reported as stolen property.
The helicopter footage shows intense moments as the car sped through residential areas. At one point, it turned around fast and even drove across a field to avoid the pursuing officers.
The driver jumped from the moving car and began running away on foot. The car crashed down an embankment and smashed over a nearby wall. Police caught and detained a man soon after.
NPAS posted about this incident on X, stating they assisted GMP in Leigh with a stolen vehicle pursuit. The driver risked a lot to escape capture by police.
GMP said they made an arrest due to the pursuit. Their Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit responded after reports of the stolen vehicle, responding quickly to the initial reports of theft.
Police arrested a man in his twenties for dangerous driving and motor vehicle theft. The arrest followed a short chase on foot.
