A man in his 50s was arrested on a Cork city bus after a public order incident. The arrest caused delays and a police investigation.

This happened around noon on Tuesday. They took the man, who’s in his 50s, off the bus and he went straight into police custody. The Grand Parade was where it all went down. The bus route was a bit delayed as a result of the incident.
Passengers talked to the police officers; they gave the police their accounts of what happened. It sounds like they were witnesses.
They charged the man with a public order crime, and he will go to Cork District Court later. We do not know the exact date for court yet. The police said they went to the Grand Parade area because of a public order issue on Monday, February 17th, 2025, around 12 pm.
There have been a few problems on buses lately, and bus drivers are getting worried about safety. It seems this is a recurring issue. A union guy said bus workers might strike on the 203 bus line because several bad things have happened there.
Dermot O’Leary spoke for the union and mentioned racial abuse, threats, and unwanted sexual comments. These issues affect drivers on the 203. Someone threw a rock that smashed a bus window on that same line just days before the warning from O’Leary.
