Lonsdale wore a gray prison tracksuit. He said “guilty” in court. Detectives stood near Dittia’s family and heard the guilty plea.
The trial was set for March 10, 2025. It would have lasted two weeks, but the guilty plea cancels the trial. Lonsdale will be sentenced April 25 at 2 PM.
His lawyer, Richard Thatcher, spoke, stating Lonsdale barely remembers the attack but accepts he caused serious harm. The attack happened last September, and he needs to attend the sentencing.
Prosecutor Jeremy Janes also spoke, saying he will provide victim impact statements for the sentencing.
Police investigated on Eddlestone Drive after Dittia died on September 17.
Judge James Sampson addressed Lonsdale, saying he will get credit for pleading guilty. The judge wants to hear from both legal teams. Lonsdale remains in custody until sentencing.
Police found Jonathan Dittia hurt at home on Eddleston Drive around 8:30 PM, Tuesday, September 17. Dittia, age 40, died there, and Lonsdale was arrested afterward.
Dittia’s family released a statement later, saying Jonathan was a gentle giant. His death leaves a big hole in their hearts. He is gone, but they won’t forget.
