After six long months, Macroom’s boil water notice is over, bringing relief to over 4,100 customers.

The first notice started August 27th. Uisce Éireann had concerns about the water quality, concerns that the HSE shared. Increased turbidity caused plant problems.
The initial warning lasted until September 25th. It was briefly lifted, just for five days, before sadly being brought back September 30th. The notice impacted 4,194 local customers.
Macroom’s population is around 4,096, meaning this water issue really affected the whole town. They lifted the notice immediately after HSE talks following extensive water tests.
Uisce Éireann said they worked hard to end it fast, knowing the notices really impacted Macroom. Niall O’Riordan spoke for Uisce Éireann, stating public health is always their top priority.
