Discover the real reason why Stott Hall Farm sits between the M62 lanes, debunking popular myths.

A TV show, “The Pennines,” revealed the truth. They built the road around it due to a fault in ground. Farmer Ken Wild lived and worked there. Now, Paul Thorp farms there. He was even on “The Yorkshire Vet.”
Ken’s granddaughter, Kimberley Pollard, talked about her childhood with YorkshireLive in 2016. She remembers the traffic noise at night, and it would lull her to sleep.
She recalls her bedroom had triple glazing, but still sometimes a car horn woke you up. She fed lambs who lost their mothers, and she watched sheep shearing too. Her granddad kept hay near the road.
He took her on his quad bike; she was scared and walked back with him. He had a huge hay bale. She wishes she could ride with him now.
Beth, his second wife, baked a lot. Kimberley played near the house and watched cars. People looked confused. Her mom even crossed the M62 to avoid rams in the underpass.
Kimberley smiled, remembering visitors who needed help with broken cars. It’s a landmark for many, but it’s home to some.
Kimberley said it felt like a normal place to her, as it was her granddad’s home. It didn’t seem strange growing up there.
