M62 Eastbound Closed After Multi Vehicle Crash Near Manchester Today

Hey, I have some news about a traffic incident. A crash happened this morning near Manchester. It was on the M62, close to Simister Island. At least four vehicles crashed on the road.

Police and ambulances went to the crash scene fast. The eastbound M62 shut down completely, from Junction 18 to Junction 19. Traffic became very heavy around there, affecting the M60 and M61 as well.

The M62 eastbound has reopened now, according to National Highways. Even though it’s open, expect some delays. Drivers may experience delays of around 10 minutes in the area.

Police said a van and several cars crashed in this “serious” collision. The congestion affected the M62, M61, and M60, causing significant traffic backups. Therefore, it’s important to allow extra travel time if going that way.

There was also a diversion route set up. To follow it, exit the M62 at Junction 18 and use the first exit onto the M66. Exit the M66 at Junction 3, then turn right onto Pilsworth Road, and continue following the signs from there.
