A lorry driver died after his HGV broke down on the M6. Another driver was arrested.

Police arrived around 9:55 p.m. on Thursday, February 27th. The Toyota driver, a 22-year-old, went to the hospital with leg and facial injuries that were not life-threatening. Police arrested him for suspected dangerous driving.
Cliff’s family shared a heartfelt tribute after he passed. He moved to the UK from New Zealand and settled in Wigan thirty years ago. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved rugby and worked as a driver.
SSO Logistics also gave a statement, noting Cliff joined them as a driver in January and quickly became a good friend. Jeff Shaw, the transport manager and friend, spoke out, noting that Cliff took pride in his work.
The company said Cliff was influential and had worked with logistics team members before. Everyone will sadly miss Clifford, and their thoughts are with his family and friends.
Many others paid tribute online to Cliff. St Helens Rugby League Referees Society mourned him, calling him a stalwart of Northwest community games. Players, coaches, and officials respected him greatly.
Leigh Miners Rangers Rugby Club also shared their sadness, noting people respected Cliff as a referee and coach. He coached their Ladies team in 2015 and 2016 and was always happy to chat about rugby.
Ruth, from NWC Juniors League, was devastated. She called Cliff a wonderful ref and mentor, noting he taught players something new at every game. Everyone will deeply miss Cliff within the league.
