Full weekend M3 closures for A322 bridge repairs. Expect detours February 21-24 and February 28-March 3. Plan routes now.
National Highways is fixing the A322 bridges, which go over the M3. They are installing new joints and doing concrete work. Gas pipes need moving, and all of this requires closures.
They already closed lanes at night, from January 8 to February 19, and again from February 24 to March 14. These lane closures were from 9 PM to 6 AM, and the M3 interchange had only one lane open.
Now, they need full weekend closures which they say limits traffic issues. Each closure affects one bridge, and M3 slip roads will also close. The dates are important.
The west bridge closes first, this is the A322 northbound, from February 21 to February 24. Then, the east bridge closes which is A322 southbound, from February 28 to March 3.
The first closure lines up with M25 slip road work near the Wisley interchange. Drivers should be extra cautious during that time, so map out your route.
Okay, here are the detour routes for the first closure, for the west bridge, February 21-24. Go south on A322, then turn right onto the B311 (Red Road). Turn right again onto the B3015, and take another right onto the A30. Finally, turn right onto Grove End, which gets you back to the A322.
Want to hop on the M3 at junction 4? Take the A322 south, turn right onto Red Road, then right onto The Maultway. Turn left onto London Road (A30), and finally, left onto the A331 to junction 4.
Now, the detour for the east bridge, February 28 to March 3. Go north on A322, turn left onto the A30, then left onto the B3015. Turn left onto the B311 (Red Road), and this takes you back to A322.
