M25 road project delayed nine months due to “bad weather,” pushing completion to spring 2026. Closures will cause disruption.

This £317 million project aims to improve traffic flow. Construction began back in the summer of 2022, with the goal being to ease congestion at Junction 10 in Surrey.
Junction 10 is known as a dangerous spot where many accidents happen. Each day, over 270,000 vehicles pass through it. The upgrades add more lanes to fix this problem.
The road work is currently creating short-term traffic issues. National Highways confirms completion is moved to spring 2026, citing “bad weather” as the cause of this setback.
National Highways says delays shouldn’t greatly impact drivers, assuming people avoid travel during closure periods. Past weekend closures saw little extra traffic.
Officials credit drivers for following travel advice and selecting alternate routes during busy times. Jonathan Wade spoke about recouping lost time, pointing out real benefits are coming.
The RAC Foundation sees more disruption ahead. Steven Gooding issued this warning to drivers, stating that summer, autumn, and winter will bring more delays.
Two complete weekend closures are scheduled for next month. During this time, workers will remove old bridges. Expect the M25 to close near Junctions 10 and 11.
The closures are from March 7 to March 10, and again from March 21 to March 24. Closures run from 9 pm Friday until 6 am Monday.
Jonathan Wade calls these the final closures, even though these actions cause big disruptions. He urged drivers to use the M25 only when needed.
He acknowledges temporary problems exist, but long-term benefits are important to him. He asks drivers to use detour routes, not just satnavs. This will prevent traffic jams in neighborhoods.
