Extensive improvements are planned in Lydney Harbour, focusing on safety upgrades and better boat access for the future.

Lydney Harbour is getting improvements all over, as the Environment Agency, the land’s owner, must keep people safe. They are working hard to boost its future.
The Agency spoke with local leaders on January 27, sharing updates and discussing future tasks. The Agency wants a thriving and safer harbour.
The current pier fencing is temporary, so they want to swap it for better pedestrian fencing. This would open up more of the piers, and they will also fix the ground.
The Agency wants yacht club access to improve, and they will first talk to the council. They will also consult with Historic England about the design, needing permission before building.
They need Scheduled Monument Consent for the fence. Construction is expected to start in Spring 2026, a while away, but progress is coming.
Soon, they will add pontoons in the inner harbour, helping boat owners reach their boats easily. New signs will keep everyone updated, and they plan to repair a bridge on the site.
