A new 68-bedroom care home is coming to Taunton, promising luxury, eco-friendliness, and top-tier care for the elderly.
Mercian Group will build the care home. Amica Care Trust will run it. abrdn will pay for the development. They act for a separate client.
Mercian saw the site’s potential for elderly care. They got approval for a modern care home. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Residents will enjoy many amenities, including lounges, dining spaces, and hobby rooms. There is also a hair salon and café.
The care home is very eco-friendly and runs entirely on electricity. It aims for a “Very Good” BREEAM rating. The area needs more modern care facilities, and this new home will help to meet that need. It provides quality rooms with wet rooms.
Amica Care Trust is excited about the project. The new home will offer top-notch care to locals. They want to ease pressure on local services, and modern tech will help residents stay independent, safe, and comfortable.
The care home should open in 2026 or 2027. It will positively impact the Taunton community. Christie & Co helped Mercian with the deal. JLL represented abrdn, but they did not reveal the property’s price.
