A lorry crash occurred in Leicestershire. Firefighters had to rescue the driver; their foot got stuck under the dashboard. The crash impact shattered the windscreen, and the front of the lorry was badly crumpled.

It happened last Tuesday in Loughborough. Many emergency services went to the scene because the driver couldn’t get out. Their foot was trapped after the impact, and the lorry’s hood bent upwards.

Fire crews from Birstall and Eastern stations helped, and technical rescue specialists assisted too. Air ambulance medics were also there, and the Southern Station’s heavy rescue unit arrived too. The incident was very difficult.

The lorry driver was freed using special tools and taken to the hospital. We don’t know their medical condition. East Midlands Ambulance Service aided and Leicestershire Police also responded.

LFRS said heavy vehicles are challenging. Firefighters used equipment from Southern Station. This helped them resolve the situation, and they successfully concluded the rescue.
