Road work improves safety at Longton junction after multiple accidents, including a car crashing into a house.

The changes followed several accidents there. One crash even involved a car hitting a house. Crews repainted lines and “Slow” warnings. They moved signs, so drivers see them better. Parked cars should block them less now.
Neighbors near the intersection are glad for updates. Some residents still think more action is needed. Trevor Robinson lives right by the crossroads. He runs his business from home.
A car crashed into Trevor’s house back in December. “It took half the house out,” he said later. He believes paint alone won’t solve things. Speed and parked cars create issues. He suggested speed limits and better barriers instead.
He also mentioned limited visibility due to parking. Marc Delves noticed many accidents in the area also. He thinks people drive too fast there. Marc thinks it may partially be that drivers from Goddard Street didn’t realize the need to stop.
The road markings looked faded, but are brighter now. However, he still feels 20 mph might suit the location better due to its busy nature. Sarah Lewin is moving away from the area soon. “They need to do something other than road markings,” she said.
Finlay Gordon-McCusker discussed the work. He is a council member in Stoke-on-Trent. He said officials listened to resident worries. They worked with safety experts to find solutions. The project aims to boost road safety citywide. He recapped the work completed at the junction. This included new markings and repositioned signs. Officials are happy residents like the changes.
