Long Eaton projects face delays but are still expected to finish soon after set Government deadline.

The project is three months late, and the government’s deadline is March 2026. Missing the deadline could risk funding. The council got £25 million in 2021.
They might prepay funds into an escrow account to help finish the bridge and waterfront. Last June, the council approved the bridge plan. The old bridge dates back to 1913 and needs replacing in ten years.
The high street project is also behind, and it should now finish in June 2026. It was originally due in August 2026. The new bridge is higher than the current one making it safer for walkers and cyclists.
The old Galaxy Row cinema will come down, and shops on Derby Road will also go. They will build flats, houses, and new shops. This project is also behind schedule, and they now expect completion by July 2026.
If they change the Galaxy Row plan, it could take longer. Last year, the council backed its cinema project, even before owning the cinema. It was first called St James Theatre and was built way back in 1907.
Procurement took four extra months due to agreement delays. But the contractor pushes design work, and they expect construction to begin and end sooner. The council wants projects contracted by March 2026, and they must finish by March 2027.
Only the High Street project lacks a final design. Galaxy Row and the bridges are in design. The Stable Block is under construction now, and the park lighting and event space are ready.
