Trains face big changes near London. This impacts travel to Brighton. Vital work needs to happen on the tracks. Expect disruption on three weekends. The first is February 15 and 16. The second is February 22 and 23. The last is March 29 and 30. Southern, Thameslink, and Gatwick Express are affected.

Govia Thameslink advises planning ahead and finding alternative routes. Check routes online before you travel as work happens between East Croydon and Victoria.

On Saturday, February 15, Southern trains run less often and northbound trains skip Battersea Park. Some trains will end at London Bridge. To Battersea Park from Clapham, change at Victoria, as trains between Victoria and London Bridge won’t run. Trains from Littlehampton go to London Bridge.

Trains to Reigate go to Redhill only that day, so use other trains to London from Redhill. On Sunday, February 16, there are no Southern or Gatwick Express trains from Victoria; Southern trains all go to London Bridge.

No trains via Crystal Palace will run, and trains between London and Reigate stop. Sydenham trains to East Croydon will cease as will Watford Junction trains to Clapham Junction. Buses replace trains at Clapham Junction and East Croydon and stop at several stations.

Next, on February 22 and 23, expect bus replacements from Three Bridges to Preston Park and Lewes. Also, buses from Balcombe to Brighton run. Direct trains still run from Victoria to Brighton, travelling via Horsham, though the journey will take longer.

Trains via Hove will not run, and the route for trains between Brighton and Eastbourne changes. No Thameslink runs between Three Bridges and Brighton. Tickets work on direct trains via Littlehampton if you go to Brighton, and if you travel between Three Bridges and Preston Park, tickets work on Southern.

Finally, from March 29 to 30, buses replace trains, affecting routes to Three Bridges, Brighton, and Lewes. Network Rail repairs track at Haywards Heath, fixes rail on Ouse Valley viaduct, and also repairs tunnels.

No trains run between Three Bridges and Brighton; replacement buses will be running. On Sunday, limited Southern trains travel from Victoria to Brighton, going via Horsham and Hove.
