Major upgrades to the London Overground, including a new station, will complete next year.

They are building a new station entrance on Lower Road. Roof materials are already installed there. Two new lifts will soon provide easy access. This entrance will help people reach Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. It will also reduce crowding.
British Land and AustralianSuper have big plans nearby. A new footbridge went in last month. The Windrush line closed for a weekend then. This footbridge has stairs to all platforms. It should make things easier than the old stairs.
The Windrush line will carry more people. Power and signals are being upgraded. More trains will run between Surrey Quays and Dalston. By late 2026, expect 18 trains per hour. The increased trains support new housing.
Another station is planned. It is called Surrey Canal. This station would be between Surrey Quays and Queens Road Peckham. Funding permitting, it would serve a new housing area. New Bermondsey homes there could reach 14,000.
The Windrush line could then run 20 trains per hour. Improvements to the Windrush line enable housing. The government helps fund the project. British Land also contributes to funding. The project expects to unlock 14,000 new homes total.
