They’re planning a tall weather mast. It will stand 120 meters high, and Powys councillors will vote on it. The location is near Llandegley and New Radnor.

The mast will have solar panels. It might stay for three years. Ed Jones heard worries from residents and wants the planning committee to review it. New Radnor councillors also object, citing a negative visual impact.

Nant Mithil Energy Park wants the mast; they’re part of Bute Energy. Bute Energy hopes to build a wind farm with 31 turbines at 220 meters. Nia Russell says the mast collects data to assess the area’s wind.

Councillors vote next Wednesday. Catherine James suggests approval, thinking it follows planning rules. She says it’s just about the mast, and a wind farm needs a separate application and would get assessed later.

Welsh ministers will decide on the wind farm. Bute Energy says the park makes power that could power from 135,000 to 202,000 homes.
