Old Swan residents lined the streets to pay tribute to Cathy Williamson, remembered as the “Queen of Old Swan”.

Cathy died peacefully on December 23 in a care home. The 85-year-old was from Old Swan, known for her poncho. She also frequented charity shops using her trolley.
Many people loved Cathy and some saw her as family. Many tributes honored the “nan” figure, and people remembered her best hugs.
Veronica McClure knew Cathy since she was a child and said the “queen” was unique. She had many memories with Cathy, who visited her daily. Cathy was well-known and joyful.
The funeral went through the community’s center, passing The Old Swan pub. It ended at St Oswald’s Church, and people then gathered at Anfield Crematorium.
A horse and carriage led the funeral, which displayed white and green decorations. A photo of Cathy with a dog rested on the coffin, as she dearly loved the dog.
Ten photographs showed today’s procession. The ECHO’s photographer took the photos in Old Swan.
