New Liverpool school Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy may displace a center and hospital parking.

The council is considering three possible sites, which could affect some local groups. An African Caribbean center and a car park used by a hospital may need to move; finding a good location has proven tricky, with many locations considered last year.
The Department for Education made guidelines that suggested certain postcodes, requiring the school to have four acres of land. This land could be on Upper Parliament Street, or on Mulgrave and Selborne Streets, with a very low rent.
The council owns the African Caribbean center, and the new school aims to help girls, particularly those from Muslim families. It could also help kids live closer to school, reducing travel time and pollution.
The government will pay for the new school, which will accommodate about 600 pupils, with half the spots for Muslim girls. The council will discuss with the African Caribbean group to find new locations that help, and will also assist the hospital in finding more parking spots.
The council aims to help the center, potentially by sharing a site with the school, which would mean the center gets smaller, following talks with users. The school will likely have sports areas which the public could use.
The council wants to find sites near homes that are also safe to get to. The academy has a good history, and the council looks forward to its opening, aiming to improve local facilities to ensure support for decades. The council will work with the community to design the new place.
