Six Liverpool landmarks may soon be transferred to community groups, empowering local initiatives and reducing council costs.

Anfield Cemetery Chapel is one of these places. Garston Urban Village Hall also makes the list. Joseph Gibbons Day Centre might transfer. Knotty Ash Community Centre is another possibility. St Brendan’s Shrine could go to the community, too. So could the old Edge Hill library.
Many buildings need repairs, sadly. They are vital for areas needing more help. Local councillors agreed to this plan back in March.
Groups must use the land for community reasons. Liverpool can stop the lease if needed. The council hopes this helps local organizations. They want to support groups doing important work. These groups greatly help their local areas.
Empty buildings cost the city money. Giving them away saves on upkeep costs. It also gives groups a space they can afford. This support assists those residents with significant needs.
