A sandwich shop reopened in Littleover. It’s called Panninis. Locals know it well. The old owners closed it earlier in 2024, and customers wondered what would happen.

The wait is over now. Rajin Singh took over the shop. He is an experienced chef who wants to bring back the old Panninis people loved. He’ll keep the menu, although he will add some special dishes too.

Rajin was born in British Guiana and grew up in Saint Martin, a Caribbean island. He moved to Derby six years ago, having once had a Jamaican restaurant. He wanted a fresh start here.

Having worked in local restaurants, including The Joiners Arms, he became head chef at Harpurs Melbourne. Now, Rajin owns his business again and looks forward to seeing everyone. He says they worked hard to open.

They have the same menu as before, which people liked a lot. They also have Caribbean-inspired specials, for instance, curried goat with rice, coleslaw, and plantain. They still sell sandwiches too.

Specials aren’t daily yet, but they hope to offer them every day soon. They also plan to hire more staff, but right now, they’re still settling in.

Panninis sells many sandwiches at fair prices. About 28 options exist. A sausage sandwich is under £4, as is a cheese sandwich. Paninis cost £5, while club sandwiches are £6.

Rajin always liked Panninis and thought it was great. It was there for over 20 years. Previous owners sold it years ago, when he lacked the funds.

Someone else bought it first, but Rajin heard it didn’t go well. It was for sale again, and this time he had the money. He knew it was the right place and decided to buy it.

They are proud to own Panninis now and reopened last month. Business is picking up slowly. They want locals to know they’re open, and they hope to meet many people.

Panninis is at Blagreaves Lane and Stenson Road. They are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 2 PM.
