Study says Lincolnshire is safest, but experts doubt it due to rural roads and serious incidents.

The report showed only nine incidents until April 2024. Sadly, two involved deaths or bad injuries. This number might hide the real road dangers.
There were 53 deaths on Lincolnshire roads in 2024. Also, 378 people had serious injuries. In 2023 and 2022, 48 people died each year. In 2021, 40 people died.
A road safety expert, Simon Outen-Coe, spoke out. He doubts Lincolnshire is the UK’s safest place to drive. He mentioned Lincolnshire is rural with fast roads.
He said drawing conclusions is hard; it depends on police and court decisions. Most serious crashes happen on rural A-roads. High speeds play a big role, about 78% in 2024.
“If two cars crash at 60mph, the result will be bad.” He also said roads are not really dangerous; it’s how people choose to drive.
The expert stressed driving safely means paying attention. Think about conditions, weather, and pedestrians. People often underestimate how much focus driving needs.
2025 started with a tragic accident. A baby died when a car hit a tree on the A1. The incident happened during icy weather. Officials confirmed they had gritted the road and started an investigation.
