Hey, guess what? A new youth center is opening in Lincoln. It’s in the St Giles area. The old center burned down a long time ago. It happened almost ten years back.

The new place will be in an old council building. You can find it on Swift Gardens. YMCA Lincolnshire will run it now. They got £2.4 million to make it happen. The old center burned in 2016.

Kids lost their place to hang out. The team just got the keys. They want to help the community. There’s not much for young people there. They will have cool stuff like parkour. Wheelchair basketball is also planned.

The building has rooms for games and crafts. Drama activities will happen there too. The manager said the area needs help. He thinks there aren’t enough youth activities.

The kids helped pick everything. This includes the floors and ceiling. At first, it’s for ages 11 to 17. They hope to expand it later on. Before, the building was a community center. It was hardly ever used, though.

They got money from the Youth Investment Fund. Then, the council gave them the building. Youth workers connect with the community. They want the center used well. The manager wants everyone to feel welcome.

That includes kids needing a place after school. It also helps kids with special needs. The center is meant to unite people. After-school clubs and sessions are planned often.

Special performances will celebrate the opening. They start on March 10th. The full opening happens soon.
