A man in Lewisham, London, was safely detained after a 15 hour standoff with police. He is now in hospital.

Police arrived and closed off the street. They entered the flat around 1:55 AM and safely detained the man. He then went to the hospital, and everything was cleared up by 6 AM Tuesday.
Someone posted a video online showing a man with a kitchen knife. He waved it from a third-floor window of the building, which has shops below it.
The incident happened near Lewisham police station. The High Street closed most of Monday afternoon, and armed police stood by.
Police said they responded to a disturbance at 10:45 AM Monday. They entered the flat early Tuesday, detaining the man and taking him to the hospital.
Police said they think the man was alone; there was nobody else in the flat. A food seller at Lewisham Market mentioned the standoff, noting it had been going on since late morning and felt mostly like waiting around.
She explained that he hid from the police, likely aware of the guns pointed at him, and noticed the police kept moving the cordon. For safety, HSBC across the street closed.
The bank reported no customers suffered harm, and no staff members had any involvement.
