New hub opens in Market Harborough after bank closures. Offers cash access and banking support.

The hub is in The Symington Building, Harborough District Council’s headquarters. The council offered space until they find a permanent place.
Cash Access UK funds the hub, with support from banks like Lloyds. It’s like a shared bank branch that all bank customers can use, and Post Office staff will run it.
This is Leicestershire’s third banking hub; Lutterworth and Syston also have them. You can withdraw and deposit money there, and bill payments are also possible. Regular banking is available from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Community bankers can help with complex issues. Specific banks will be there certain days: NatWest is there on Mondays, Santander on Tuesdays, Lloyds on Wednesdays, HSBC on Thursdays soon, and Barclays on Fridays.
Phil Knowles, HDC’s leader, said many residents can’t bank online. Some lack internet or prefer in-person banking, and he is glad the council helped.
Gareth Oakley leads Cash Access UK. He said the hub gives locals access to cash and in-person banking help. A community banker is on-site certain days for assistance.
