Route 12 is back, thanks to residents. Passenger numbers exceed expectations after Arriva and the council worked together.

Route 12 carries over 100 persons each week. This number beats the old bus routes. Residents campaigned for the bus after routes changed in 2022. Arriva and the council worked to bring it back. Passenger numbers are higher than hoped.
The service has more users. It serves more than old routes 16 and 29 did. These routes used to serve Whitwick’s Market Place and North Street.
The bus runs every hour, Monday through Friday. It goes between Whitwick and Coalville. It stops at places such as City of Three Waters, King Richard’s Hill and Whitwick Market Place.
Arriva’s Toby France says they are happy about the bus. The community uses the bus service. This was possible by working with the people. They helped meet transport needs.
France says the bus needs more passengers. More riders ensure it stays in service. He suggests people try the bus, perhaps leaving their cars, for a cheaper method. He adds the bus is more sustainable. More passengers mean a stronger case. It ensures service for everyone who relies on Route 12.
