Leicester Road shuts near Blaby Bridge for two weeks starting next week due to flooding. Buses will detour during road work.

The council plans to replace the drainage system under the bridge. This needs a complete road closure, so drivers must use the diversion route. Sue Jordan said they planned this work in October. They scheduled it for half-term to minimize disruption.
Pedestrians can still use the bridge during the closure. However, Arriva won’t serve Glen Parva by bus for the first week. Blaby buses will take a detour, possibly adding 25 minutes.
If delays happen, buses will serve Glen Parva with a smaller detour. Arriva buses will divert via Soar Valley Way and other roads. The detour adds about five miles to the usual route. It might add around nine minutes to your trip. The road closes from February 17 to February 28.
The official detour goes down Leicester Road and onto the Blaby Bypass. Then drivers turn towards Enderby Road and St Johns. It continues onto Narborough Road South and Soar Valley Way. Finally, buses will turn onto Lutterworth Road and New Bridge Road.
