Two men are accused of criminal damage. A Paddington Bear statue was cut and stolen. This happened in Newbury, Berkshire. Police said the incident occurred early Sunday morning. The statue was on Northbrook Street.

William Lawrence, 22, is from Enderby. Daniel Heath, 22, is from West Yorkshire. Both face charges for damaging and stealing the statue. They will go to court on March 25.

The police found the missing piece. The statue was unveiled last October. Inspector Alan Hawkett investigated. He said they tried their best to find the statue fast and locate the people responsible.

The police are keeping the statue safe now. It will return to Northbrook Street soon. Paddington is visiting the police station, and the police joked he’s getting a marmalade sandwich.

Lee Dillon, an MP for Newbury, is very upset about what happened. He called the damage heartbreaking and senseless. He had taken a photo with the statue before the incident.
