A Leicestershire dad faces charges after using paper as a car seat for his 4-year-old child.

The police car braked suddenly. Ahmed’s black Audi caused it on London Road. He turned onto Charles Street. He changed lanes often and sped through lights that were changing to red.
PC Jessica Holmes noticed something. Ahmed wasn’t wearing his seatbelt right. He said he knew it. His tummy felt bad, so he moved it. He admitted he was guilty.
PC Holmes learned more from her colleague. Two kids sat in the backseat unprotected. The youngest sat on paper and a notebook. Ahmed said the kids were four and seven.
PC Holmes opened the back doors. The youngest child sat on paper. This made her think Ahmed knew better. The child needed to sit higher up in the car.
He said the car seats were in his wife’s car. She usually does school runs, he told police. Officers thought he knew the car seat rules.
He was driving them to a pool that day. It was Saturday, August 18. Police stopped them from going further. They needed proper car seats first.
Ahmed bought new car seats nearby. The officers helped install them. Then they let him continue the trip. This is according to official court papers.
The court fined Ahmed £220 on Wednesday. He must pay £110 in costs, plus an £88 victim fee. He got three points on his license. He didn’t plead guilty or innocent.
This case used a fast-track court system. It’s for smaller crimes. These crimes don’t need a hearing.
